The Daiichi Salmon Egg fishing hook was developed for fishing with bait, but is now also being used for artificial bait. This is an ideal hook for use with artificial salmon eggs from Berkley and other micro trout baits. Salmon Egg hooks are generally used by trout and salmon anglers using natural salmon eggs as bait. Fly tiers create artificial egg patterns to simulate salmon eggs and prefer the Daiichi Salmon Egg hook style because the up-eye does not close off the hook gap and the angle of pull enhance hook-ups.
