Fishing the Surf on Lake Michigan

Lake Michigan has 1,660 miles of shoreline consisting largely of sand and pebble beaches. Sand dunes, marshes, tall grass prairies, savannas, and forests provide the essential habitats for a great diversity of life. Lake Michigan is the third largest of the Great Lakes and the sixth largest lake in the world. Bordered by Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin it is the only one of the Great Lakes that lies completely within the borders of the United States. There are countless areas where shore or surf fishing can be done. If you are looking for a peaceful place to fish, fishing the surf on Lake Michigan is hard to beat. There are many quiet secluded areas near most large cities where beach access is available. The river and stream mouths will traditionally receive high fishing pressure during the fall salmon runs.
