Fishing Rods for Surf Fishing

Fishing rods used for surf fishing are generally longerFishing Rods than most general purpose fishing rods. We like a medium action rod. The minimum fishing rod length of 8 feet for general casting presentations should be used. For most bait type presentations when the fishing rod is placed in a rod holder we use rods from 8 feet to 12 feet long. The longer the rod the higher the rod tip will be in the air. This height advantage changes the angle that the fishing line enters the water. The steeper the angle the less affect the wave action will have on the bait. Longer casts can also be made with longer fishing rods.
