When using dodgers, flashers, or any lures that are designed to spin constantly, line twist can be a problem. The line twist can be prevented by one of several methods:
  • Do not tie directly to the dodger, flasher, or lure, instead use one of the better ball bearing snap swivels.
  • Add a two foot leader of 40 lb test line to the front of the dodger, flasher, or lure with a ball bearing snap swivel at each end of the leader. This is a common technique on the west coast. The dynamics of the ball bearing swivels and the heavier line will totally eliminate all line twist.
